We come from movement, we‘ve also originated through movement. Whether it be inner movement like the heartbeat, breathing, our metabolism etc., or outer movements like apprehending our environment with our body. Movement always is the point of origin, the basis as well as the foundation of all structures that are existing and that are going to be formed.

Movement always is impulse and expression at the same time. Impulse for evolvement processes and expression of will. To express oneself externally (to push limitations, to compare oneself to others etc.) and internally (to feel and to experience – personal relation, body image/self-perception); behind all these things actually stands the need to find the answer to self-asked questions. A posed question always is a reaction to the unexpected – an impulse so to speak. That‘s also when learning and enthusiasm take place. The impulse finds a way through expression and vice versa the expression becomes the impulse for further questions.

Therefore it is important to us to offer space and dreams for movement. As the German wordplay („Bewegungs(t)räume“: movement space – movement dreams) reveals, playing is an elementary form of learning to us and thus a central foundation of movement development. As play we understand the pure contact with ourselves, other people, spaces and objects. This form of play isn‘t about a given achievement as for example in sports, but rather the achievement exists in the outcome of a process. And processes are characterized through exploration, experience and knowledge.
We regard space from the root of the Middle High German term „rûm“, as the „not filled in“, or „free space/room“ and therefore is a fundamental component of reality to us. Space defines itself as the extent of height, length and width. Empty space has a high demand to be filled and to be felt (German wordplay: „erfü(h)llen“: to fill and to feel). Feeling the space takes time in order to comprehend what is felt. To that effect this time factor also exists when we experience dreams, we dream when we are in leisure or when we can allow it. To us dreams are fictional spaces – something creative, imaginative thus playful, that, in its creation, is embossed with individual activity. Dreams produce an innate form of reality and immediate presence within ourselves.

We act on the assumption that a human being doesn‘t have to only develop in its wholeness, but rather comes as a whole and is in need of space to furhter develop/unfold. Therfore we view the child as a protagonist of its own development, because young people strive to do something on their own and to explore the world independently from an early stage onwards. Within these processes it is important to consider that there are emotional and motor-driven basic needs of young people that need to be given space. The pursuit of autonomy and independence seems to be an essential motor in the development of children, for this reason the point is that children and people can practice becoming themselves actively (here self-efficiacy, personal responsibility, self-determination among others are very important factors).

Contact

Subject *

First Name *

Last Name *

Phone *

Email *

What else do I want to know?

Philosophy In the beginning there was movement.
